I’m a retired newspaper editor and columnist who spent most of my professional life in a newsroom or a classroom. When I left daily journalism, I became a teacher at a private Christian high school, which proved to be the toughest job I’ve ever had, though I am deeply in love with the young people who slid through my classes and my office. I spent time working part-time as a professor of English, an information and reference librarian, and a freelance editor. I left academic preparation in the psychology of religion to devote myself to journalism. Writing poetry has been an avocation that began sometime in my teens.  At several periods in my academic career, I took courses in creative writing, poetry, and literature, and this blog offers those few poems that I have published. A blog of my spiritual reflections, called “Faith at Ease” which is part of “CCBlogs” hosted by The Christian Century, is accessible at http://faithatease.com
